Thanks to all of YOU, residents and guests, Fairlington Day on Saturday, May 15 was a resounding success! We gave away almost 500 hot dogs and 650 drinks.Many neighbors helped out: Bob Tetro, Arnie Malin, Dru Deising, Louise Guey-Lee, Diane Growitz and son, Jason Henney, Dee Watson, and Shane Wilkins. Apologies to anyone we might have missed!

Thanks to local organizations for participating: Washington Sports Club; artist Cindy Coldiron, Arlington County grant winner; Fairlington MOMS Club; START (Smart Transportation Alternatives for Riders Tomorrow); the Fairlington Historical Society; Abingdon School PTA; The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) National Capital Area Chapter; and two animal rescue groups, A Forever Home and Homeward Trails.

This event was part of Arlington's Neighborhood Day. Arlington County Board members Mary Hynes, J. Walter Tejada, and vice-chair Chris Zimmerman joined us for the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new Utah Park picnic shelter (see photo). Arlington County Police Department Captain Michelle Nuneville stopped by for a visit along with Officer Bryan Morrison. Other Arlington County staff to thank include: Patrick Mallon, Ward Foley, Robert Upton, Lyndell Core, Glenda Sabouni, Susan Kalish, and Tunji Akiwowo.
